As a female black traveler, going into the unknown carries unique expectations and fears. Yet, the journey of identity and exploration is stronger than my fear. On my first visit to Brazil, I discovered a world of colors, cultures, and emotions that inspired me. Let me take you through my journey and explain why Brazil should be on your travel bucket list.
Hey wanderlust seeker!

I'm Feven, your solo female traveler from Barcelona. Recently, I embarked on a journey that had been in my heart for years: a trip to Brazil. My fascination with the country has always been strong. With a passion for adventure and a curious mind, I organized my Brazilian adventure.
There's nothing quite like the feeling you get when you're preparing for a trip, especially when the destination is as exciting as Brazil. The rhythm of the country is so vibrant that it attracts many international travelers. The vibrant cities, jungles, samba beats, and dreamy beaches of this country make it more than a travel destination. It's a melting pot of cultures and adventures.
I could see the influence of the fusion of different cultures. The country has been shaped by the indigenous tribes and the descendants of African slaves. Afro-Brazilian music and spirituality and the indigenous people's connection to their traditions create a vibrant cultural landscape.

I always wanted to travel to Brazil, even though my family and friends told me not to. As always, I didn’t listen and visited the country for Two and a half weeks. When I got off the plane, I felt very excited, and Brazil won me over even before I saw anything.
When you think about Brazil, the first thing that comes to mind is Rio de Janeiro. Rio de Janeiro is the city of dreams, full of energy, where every sunset is even more stunning than the last. But Brazil has more to offer than the city.
As part of my trip, I experienced Rio and the wonder of the world waterfall of Iguazú, the cultural art and architecture of São Paulo, and the peaceful beaches of Florianópolis and the islands. My main activities included hiking, snorkeling, and getting to know the locals. Although I could write pages about how beautiful Brazil is, you're probably wondering - why should I travel to Brazil? Let me explain.
3 Reasons Why You Should Visit Brazil
1. Embrace the Vibrant Culture
You can explore colorful streets or dance the night away in samba clubs in Lapa. Brazil has a rich cultural heritage, starting from the lively rhythms of Samba to the delicious cuisine. As a black traveler, I felt a connection to Brazil's Afro-Brazilian culture, art, and music.
2. Discover Natural Wonders
It's your country if you are a nature lover. You'll find a wide variety of natural wonders from
Iguazú Falls (the most impressive waterfall I've ever seen, and I've been to Niagara Falls) to the beaches of Florianópolis. There are many beautiful hiking trails with natural landscapes and clear seas for snorkeling in crystal-clear waters.
3. Indulge in Culinary Delights
The Brazilian cuisine combines indigenous, African, and Portuguese flavors. In street markets, cafés, and restaurants with live music, you can try local dishes such as Feijoada and Pão de Queijo. You’ll find local food in Pura Brasa and Tin Tin Botequim. It's the perfect way to discover the culinary culture that defines Brazilian culture.
Tips for Staying Safe
As a solo female traveler, I understand the importance of safety and convenience. While Brazil has warm hospitality, it's important to prioritize safety. Like any other destination, planning your trip will be easier if you stay informed about the local safety situation. There are areas of Brazil with a higher crime rate. So, while exploring the country, I learned tips for staying safe and still enjoying it with confidence:
Attention: Keep your jewelry simple and avoid attracting unwanted attention.
Environment: Pay attention to your surroundings (especially in crowded tourist areas and busy city streets).
Transportation: For safe transportation at night, don’t walk alone in unknown areas. Use reputable taxi services or ride-sharing apps like Uber.
Accommodations: When you look for accommodations, focus on safety. When you travel alone, a hostel is a good opportunity to meet other travelers.
Connect with Locals: You can talk to locals for insider information about safety.
As a rule, keep your belongings secure and trust your instincts if you feel something is not right.
Conclusion
As a female adventurer, traveling through Brazil was an inspiring experience. The country captured my heart in ways I never imagined. Two and a half weeks were not enough to discover everything about the culture and the natural wonders. That's why I want to go back.
